Made it Monday 1.31.10

The last Made it Monday of January; it is hard to believe how fast this month went by (not that I'm complaining being pregnant and all...).  This week I made something with my mother-in-law that will welcome spring beautifully.  She is an expert arranger and I help.  This is one of the two we came up with that day.
This is the before...
And the after...

Basically,  you buy some pretty flowers in at Hobby Lobby, cut them apart, hot glue them to a grapevine wreath, and before you know it you have a new spring wreath.  Anyone have any ideas for how to keep real birds from nesting in your wreaths?  I would love to know.

Made it Monday 1.24.10

This week for Made it Monday I am working to "re-work" a necklace of mine that broke.  But alas, as many projects go it didn't get finished today.  Hopefully,  I will get to update this post tomorrow with the final result.

Today was not a crafting day; instead we loaded up the calves and took them to the market.  We brought all 14 of them home in one trailer and thankfully they grew enough over the year we had to take two trips to return them.

I am guessing that some of you were more organized and got your projects done...so please show them off!

Made it Monday: Butterfly decorations

This week I made some butterfly decorations that closely resemble the original pottery barn kids butterflies that I was given at a baby shower for my 14 month old.  I have realized that 14 month little girls really LOVE butterflies and will grab them at any and every possible opportunity; so now I need to replace a few torn wings.

The first thing I did was grab some scrapbook paper.  The paper I used was 8.5" x 11".  I traced one that I had laying around; but if you wanted to make one I would start with a long skinny oval in the center of the paper.  Next draw a wing (maybe on another paper and cut it out) Then trace that wing onto your oval and turn wing over and trace the other wing.  Cut out.

Now that you have your butterfly cut out; fold along the oval lines.  This will make your butterfly "fly".  Place double-sided tape along the back of the oval and stick on the wall.

Can you tell which one I made?  (The blue one!)

Made it Monday: Label those keys!

This week I got out one of my Christmas presents and played around.  My in-laws were sweet enough to get me a bucket load of new and interesting craft supplies; one of which was a steel stamping kit.  Basically you take a hammer, the steel stamp, your garage floor and something metal and put them together to make your "thing".

My "thing" was to label keys.  I have somehow managed to lock myself out of my house several times in the last few months so we made keys for both sets of parents and made sure we also had one on our key chain too.   I have about 6 keys on my keychain of which 0 fit my keyhole and I have zero ideas of what they belong too.  So labeling was the project this week...

I put a D for Dawkins (our last name) to help identify our family key.

Made it Monday!

I have been making something the past few weeks that has me completely exhausted.  And as of Christmas my secret is out so I thought it was time to share it with you all.  This little project is 11 weeks in the making with 29 left to go :)  Any quick guesses?

Yep.  I'm pregnant.  I am starting to feel a quite a bit better but still really exhausted.  I have to apologize for ignoring the blog the past few weeks.  It was all I could do to keep my 14 month old clean, fed, and safe.  I never thought that the idea of sitting behind a computer would make me want to vomit but that is where I found myself.
This is how we told the family..."Merry Christmas Poppa!  See you in July!"

I will probably post a few ideas that have come to me lately soon.  As for the rest of you ...
